ACADEMICS

I conducted a research project on the stigmas surrounding abortion. I got the opportunity to present my research at Lincoln University's Research Symposium, and the 41st Mid-Atlantic undergraduate social research conference.

Throughout my academic journey, I have pursued courses that are directly relevant to my goal of becoming a criminal defense attorney. For instance, Criminological Theory provided me with a theoretical framework to understand the root causes of crime and the different perspectives on crime and punishment. This course helped me appreciate the complexities of criminal behavior and how they relate to social and economic factors. Moreover, Intro to Criminal Justice System gave me a broad understanding of the American criminal justice system, including the functions of the police, courts, and corrections. I was able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the system and the impact of different policies on the lives of individuals. One of the most valuable courses I have taken is Legal Analysis and Writing. This course enhanced my ability to research and write persuasively, which are crucial skills for success in law school and the legal profession. I was able to conduct comprehensive research on different legal issues and analyze cases, statutes, and regulations. I also learned how to identify legal issues, better craft arguments, and use legal authorities to support my positions. By the end of the course, I had drafted multiple statements that demonstrated my ability to communicate points effectively and persuasively.

My involvement in the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) has been instrumental in my personal and professional development. BLSA has provided me with a platform to connect with other students of color who share my passion for social justice and equity. Through BLSA, I have been able to attend networking events and conferences that have enhanced my understanding of the legal profession and allowed me to develop meaningful relationships with attorneys, judges, and law school faculty. I have also participated in community service activities that have allowed me to give back to the community and promote unity within communities.

THE DEANS LIST

I have achieved Dean's List honors three times during my time at Lincoln University.

During the spring of my senior year, I received many prestigious accolades. Including my induction into the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society. These honors reflect my hard work and dedication to my academic pursuits and my commitment to promoting justice in the legal profession.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP

As an AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate and Community Organizer, I supported the development and organization of local community activities and conducted outreach calls to gather support for these events. I will also provide administrative support and maintain client files while working remotely to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in the Red Hook community.
